In the midst of the Great Depression, when more banks were closing than opening, Mr. William Knievel opened Farmers & Merchants Bank in West Point, Nebraska on April 23, 1931.
Mr. Knievel possessed keen business acumen, a conservative disposition, and recognized the strong attributes of both the area and people living there. In 1981, a gentleman holding these same characteristics was named President & CEO - Mr. Phil Burns.
Using F&M Bank's established strong foundation and culture of customer service, Mr. Burns was able to spearhead forward progress by expanding their homegrown success over the years.
Today, over 80 years later, there are F&M Bank locations in the great communities of Gretna, Sioux City, South Sioux City, Wayne and West Point.
